A Sustainable Vision: Transforming an Iconic Building into a Modern, Energy-Efficient Hotel

We’re excited to share an update on our latest project in Amsterdam’s South Axis!

With the design phase complete and interior demolition underway, we’re making significant progress in transforming this iconic building into a modern, sustainable hotel. Our goal is to create a future-proof, energy-efficient destination that seamlessly balances contemporary comfort with environmental responsibility. The redevelopment will deliver 244 rooms across 14 floors, preserving the historic façade while introducing thoughtful upgrades to enhance energy performance and the guest experience. By incorporating green spaces and strengthening the building’s connection to its surroundings, we’re ensuring it remains a valuable part of the neighborhood.

Sustainability is at the core of this transformation. The building will eventually be fully electric, featuring energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, improved insulation, and high-performance glazing to reduce energy demand. Solar panels and heat recovery systems will optimize resource use, while LED lighting and smart controls will minimize unnecessary energy consumption. Advanced water and energy monitoring will help to track and improve efficiency, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Beyond sustainability, we’re designing a hotel that fosters a connection with the city. The ground floor will be open and inviting, featuring a restaurant, terrace, and meeting spaces designed for both guests and the broader community. A portion of the building and outdoor space will be accessible for public use, reinforcing our commitment to an engaging and vibrant urban environment.
